Some traditions are studied. Some are inherited.
Atoyebi Garcia Villamil was born into one of the most documented sacred drumming lineages in Afro-Cuban history — the son of Felipe García Villamil, 2000 NEA National Heritage Fellow, master of the batá drum, and cultural guardian of traditions traceable to West Africa and the sacred streets of Matanzas, Cuba.
This is not a performance. This is a lineage. And it lives here.
